Sarcophagus

You steal the air from my lungs but that’s our bargain
weightless, bloodless, I float in white sheets sailing
your blackness embalms me and you bite my lips bloody
but it’s just teasing, just a flirtation with the grave
as I am suspended over my bed in satin ribbons, I toss
ropes to ground my spirit ripped from ripe apple curves
stand on foal feet, see you in chains and red bandages
your hair is black oily snakes that writhe with thunder
your eyes just two pits to die in smothering tar, your
skin ice, and I scream, run, quiver like a new arrow
and then I awake in my coffin, organs gone, sarcophagus.
