Beyond the Sea

I wander under an ocean of dreams
I never know what it is I’ve found
Hope? No. More like a reverie.
There’s sand dollars and weeds
gull cries, tide at my ankles,
a sailboat in the distance, above
to be at the bottom of the waters
at the heart of the Mother Abyss
is to know your darkest of hearts
is to harvest jewel-glimmer shells
and make armor out of pearls.
